Alexandre is the founder and chairman of The Multipolarity Report. He is an experienced economist, policy advisor, and investment strategist with twenty years of professional experience.
Alexandre filled a number of key positions with major governmental and commercial organizations across the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), including as Banking Supervisor and Financial Economist at the French Central Bank, Senior Economist at EXANE BNP Paribas, and Chief Economist and Group Head of Research at Tell Group.
In 2010, Alexandre set up a boutique advisory firm to provide dedicated economic research and strategic advisory services to governments, financial institutions, and corporates across the world. The clients’ roster counts some of the world’s most prestigious financial companies, investment funds, individual investors, and Fortune 500 companies, alongside governments and international organizations.
In 2015-2016, Alexandre was appointed by the Algerian Government as a Member of an Economic Task Force charged with advising the Government on Economic Reforms and Transformation Programmes. In 2017-2018, Alexandre advised the Government of Chad on the latter’s Oil Revenue management scheme and Economic Development Strategy. In 2022, Alexandre advised the Donor Committee on Enterprise Development (DCED) – a multi-agency framework counting among its members the World Bank, the International Labour Organization, the European Commission, and several other leading Development Agencies.
Alongside these public policy-focused assignments, Alexandre also led several assignments at Major financial institutions – including the BNP Paribas Group and LCH Clearnet – helping them adapt to the new risk and regulatory environment that emerged from the Global Financial Crisis of 2008. In addition, for over a decade, Alexandre has been lecturing in International Economics and Finance at Sciences Po – a leading Higher Education institution in France.
Alexandre Kateb is the author of unnumerable op-eds and articles. He is also the author of two acclaimed Non-fiction books published in French: Les Nouvelles puissances mondiales. Pourquoi les BRIC changent le monde (The New World Powers. How the BRIC countries change the world) published in 2011, and “Les économies arabes en mouvement. Un nouveau modèle de développement pour la région MENA” (Arab economies on the Move. A New Development Model for the MENA Region), published in 2019 with a foreword by former WTO General Director and European Commission Vice-President Pascal Lamy.
Alexandre speaks fluently French and Russian (native languages), as well as Arabic and English. He also has a good command of German and Spanish and is an active learner of Chinese.
